12 Top Science Tips for Achieving A-Star Grade
February 5, 2014

1
The Top Science Tips apply to ALL students from Years 5 to 13
2
Keep your folder organised by using dividers to separate Biology, Chemistry & Physics
3
Your Learning Centre folder is a record of all the work you complete so that you can use it to revise for exams.
Avoid messy folders and untidy hand writing so revision goes smoothly.
4
Write classwork or homework at the top of every page and underline.
5
Also at the top, write and underline: your name, topic and date.
6
Write neatly & legibly using blue or black ink with joined up writing – you will get extra marks in exams if the person marking can read your work.
7
Use science words to answer questions – you will get more marks in exams.
8
After each and every Learning Centre lesson, go over & and revise your Science work and memorise: the meanings of key words and all the work you produced in the lesson.
9
Avoid pressuring yourself - do not wait until a day or a week before exams to follow step 6.
10
You will only improve and learn how to apply your Science knowledge to answer exam questions properly by practicing LOTS of GCSE or A’Level Science past papers at least one year before the real exam; so please complete and return for marking every paper you are given.
11
When you finish the past paper and before handing it in to be marked, read over every question and answer TWICE and correct mistakes.
12
Once the past paper is returned, go through every correction your teacher has made by undertaking the following steps:
  • Step-1: neatly copy the question number and every correction on A4 lined paper;
  • Step-2: read the corrections out aloud at home;
  • Step-3: cover the corrections and write them from memory on a separate piece of paper without looking at the first copy you wrote.

Your school mock and real exam grades will improve by following all the above steps. These suggestions are compulsory for all serious students. They are not optional. The sooner you start following these tips and sticking to them, then they will become a habit and the sooner you will improve. When you try, then you will succeed.

WARNING: 12 Top Science Tips will work if they become a regular part of your studying. This is NOT a QUICK FIX. Good luck!!
