The After-School Learning Centre™ seeks dynamic, happy and enthusiastic Primary and Secondary school teachers to teach English, Maths, Science, Mandarin and Verbal / Non-Verbal Reasoning. Excellent student interaction skills in small groups and 1-to-1 settings is essential.

The After-School Learning Centre caters for children aged 4 - 18 years of all ability levels, including high-achievers/gifted and children who may require extra assistance.

We teach reading, study skills, writing, Maths, Science as well as GCSE, A'Level, SATs and Entrance Exam preparation. We complement and enhance the work children undertake at school - all teaching is focused on the National Curriculum.

Parents send children to The After-School Learning Centre in order to achieve real improvements in school grades and to ensure grades A* – C in GCSE / A'Level English, Maths and Science.

Our teachers work on an individual basis, thereby helping students achieve tremendous progress in a relatively short period of time.

We are open six days a week.

PGCE / B'Ed qualified teachers (or overseas equivalent) required, experienced in the following areas:

  • Excellent student interaction skills in small groups and 1-to-1 settings

  • DfES number (applicable for UK Qualified Teacher Status only)

Secondary English Teachers

This is a great opportunity for qualified English teachers to earn extra money on top of regular school work. This is also a great role for QUALIFIED retired or trainee English teachers seeking to utilise teaching experience by combining regular part-time work with other activities or studies.

London’s leading tuition centre is looking for talented and enthusiastic Secondary English teachers who would enjoy tutoring ambitious children how to pass exams with A Star or B grades in a calm and well resourced environment. Teach Key Stage 3 students the essential GCSE skills: Point Evidence & Explanation, Poetry analysis, short/compound sentences, variety of sentence starters, complex punctuation (ellipses, hyphen, dashes), Mice & Men, Animal Farm, Shakespeare and much more.

The lessons take place on weekday evenings and Saturdays. We teach children aged 11 to 18 using traditional methods. The children are taught in small groups based on age and ability.

THE AFTER-SCHOOL LEARNING CENTRE™ caters for primary school children aged 5 to 11 years as well as secondary school pupils aged 11 to 18 years of all abilities. AFTER-SCHOOL LEARNING CENTRE™ is looking for talented and enthusiastic individuals to teach Primary, English and Maths.

We teach primary school children aged 5 to 11 using traditional methods emphasizing reading by phonics and Maths without calculators. Secondary Science Teachers

The After-School Learning Centre seeks experienced and engaging Science teachers with the knowledge to teach motivated eleven to sixteen year olds Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to GCSE level. Knowledge of teaching at least one or all three Sciences up to A'Level is also desirable.

Successful candidates will:

  • Enjoy explaining Science concepts to children in an easy to understand manner
  • Provide exam technique and exam paper practice
  • Keenly correct children's work and review mistakes before moving onto new topics
  • Encourage and show children how to use appropriate vocabulary to maximise exam marks
  • Be great at multi-tasking / juggling teaching different topics to different children in the space of one hour
  • Have fantastic organisational skills to prepare class and homework before the start of the lessons (admin assistance is provided)

PGCE or B'ED and experience in teaching required. Flexible hours to suit your schedule. However, a regular commitment to future sessions is desirable. CRB clearance and support from two referees required.

Mandarin Teachers

The After-School Learning Centre seeks experienced Mandarin teachers to teach motivated 7 to 18 year old Non-Chinese speaking students in small groups.

You must have taught your mother tongue for a minimum of two years and have a thorough understanding of Mandarin for Beginners all the way up to preparing students to successfully pass the GCSE Mandarin exam with a top grade. A'Level exam experience desirable.

You will need to have patience and the ability to adapt your teaching style to the requirements of each pupil.

As well as excellent linguistic skills, you will need to use your knowledge of China's culture, history and economy so you can convey to students what is expected when living and working in China, including: etiquette, manners and correct pronunciation.
